It turned out just like I hoped it would, which is always a pleasant surprise. (I wish all of my projects did!)
This particular project started when I went out to the shed to get something and spied some wire screening out of the corner of my eye. I'm not sure what we used it for but we use something similar called fence panel (it's much bigger) around our farm.
Let's do this project together.
Then, using some little wire cutters, cut the screen into a 10" x 1 1/4" to make the arch.
Attached the ends of the screen to the wood trim piece with a staple gun using 2 staples on each end.
We have made the basic form of the little garden arch and it can stand up by itself. Now lets "cute it up" a little. We'll start by painting the base a green color.
Let's deck it out with some flowers. We'll use a couple of different flower bunches that came from Hobby Lobby.
These are pretty long and we don't need many, so let's cut some pieces off of them and save the rest for another project.)
The flowers on the left have removable plastic flowers attached to the stem. Let's remove them for now and we'll reattach them in a few minutes. The ones on the right are not removable and we'll just have to be gentle while we are weaving them through the arch. Let's put the flowers on now. This is the fun part because you can arrange the flower "vines" anyway you like. Just start at the base and weave them through the arch until you like the way it looks. (You could just wire them on if you want.) When we are happy with it, we'll reattach the plastic flower parts. Look how nice this turned out!
Let's put some grass on that base to make it look even cuter! This moss came from Hobby Lobby as well and it will be perfect for what we want.
Just trace the base onto the back side of the moss with a marker and glue it on with some Tacky Glue.
Now let's add a bunny for extra cuteness because it is spring and "Easter's on it's way"! (I picked up a set of 6 of these little bunnies in various poses for $9.99. I'll have plenty left for next year too!)
And there ya go! A very cute and very tiny little garden arch and just in time for a new Easter decoration! Yay!
