TILED PICTURE FRAME

I've been missing my friend Judy in Arizona.  We were neighbors when we both lived in Montana.  I'm always missing her, but lately, I've been missing her a lot.  I decided to do something about it, so I made a picture frame to put on my kitchen shelf so I could see her face anytime I wanted! (I really need to figure out the whole Skype thing!)

I had an old black picture frame that was the perfect size and held a 2 X 3 picture.  (Just because I'm missing her a lot doesn't mean I need a large portrait or anything creepy like that!)  Just a little picture would do.
I got out my shoebox of little tiles and chose some green ones that would go with my kitchen colors.  I also got some Alene's Tacky Glue (I use that stuff so much in my blog crafts that she really should be sending me some free bottles or something.)  I also chose a few beads to fit in a few of the "off" spaces.
Then, using a toothpick, I put the glue on the tiles and just fastened them to the frame in a pattern that pleased me.
When it was all finished, I chose a picture of Judy that I took when I was visiting her last year.  She always takes me to my favorite Mexican restaurant, Los Dos Molinos in Mesa.  We love it!  I always get the Green Corn Tamales, which are so spicy they make me sweat!  They aren't so hot you can't taste them, just really spicy in a yummy-make-you-sweat-bullets-and-drink-some-cervezas sort of way!  But I digress.....

So here is my wonderful friend, eating wonderful Mexican food.  This picture is now sitting on my little kitchen shelf and it makes me smile every time I look at it!  She's coming to see me this fall and then I won't have to miss her so much any more.......at least for a while!

Linking up to some of these fine parties:

  2. I love how this turned out. It kind of reminds me of those licorice allsorts, lol. Sorry, but it's always food with me. The little beads really add a nice touch.

  5. Yes, Danni, you would not want a friend's picture to be so big it would creep you out:>D

Love the green tiles and the beads are a great detail.

Does Judy know you are showing her eating to the world?

  6. Aww, she looks adorable! Bet she's a wonderful gal :)
That tiled frame is fantastic. I'll be tiling a lot soon (on a small scale) for a certain HackOff, so this project interested me a lot. I learned something vital about glue which will come in very handy, thank you! x
