I've mentioned before that I have a big family. I have five sisters and a brother. Today, I'm going to talk about sisters. On Fridays, I have a feature called "Five on Friday" where you can meet my sisters, one at at time. My opinion is that all of my sisters have helped define who I am. They all have qualities that I admire and aspire to. But we're sisters and we grew up loving, fighting, sharing and stealing each others clothes. (6 girls, 2 bathrooms....you do the math!) We've struggled through the years to figure each other out and learn to get along, while appreciating each others strengths and respecting each other's weaknesses. It's still a work in progress. But I know this....we love each other and we are a formidable force when we combine our strengths.
One of my sisters had a devastating crisis last year. (Crisis is just too mild a word for it, but that's her story to tell, not mine.) All of the rest of the sisters came to her from various places, near and far. It was probably our biggest test of sisterhood so far. (I hope we never have another like it.) She still has some bad days. She'll probably have many of them. She's smart enough to reach out and let us know. I'm so thankful for that because it's not an easy thing to do. I hope she has a better day today. We need her as much as she needs us.
We have a private online group page just for the sisters. Guess who made it? Yep...one of the sisters. I love it. Sometimes it's a very active site and sometimes it's a little dormant. Sometimes it's just as fiery as our childhood lives were and sometimes it's so full of love it's crazy. Lot's of times it's just plain funny. If you have a lot of sisters and you don't have an online group, page or website...get one. It's awesome and in some cases, like yesterday, invaluable.
I'm sharing something I tore out of a magazine years ago about sisters. Hope you find something here you like:
So true - I love you all!
