(I've been watching this little patch for a while.)
But this year, I think we are all lucky because suddenly bittersweet seems to be in abundance! Last year, you couldn't hardly find any. This year.....there are fence walls of it!
Some years the greenhouses, decor shoppes and floral shops get to it before anyone. I found a mother-lode of it and I hope it's not the mother-in-law-lode!!! This stuff is incredibly beautiful in fall decor and you'll be seeing some of it hanging around on my blog over the next several weeks. In the meantime, it will be hanging around this fence panel behind my house (away from the peering eyes of passerbys) waiting for me to get out there and strip some of the leaves off of it.
Nothing says fall in Missouri like bittersweet berries and vines!
Here's a close-up of those beautiful orange berries before they open.
Those berries will "pop" open soon and I promise you they will be beautiful!
I also promise you that I will post a picture of them when they do!
Linking up to any or all of these fine parties:
I love seeing bittersweet berries used in decor. Only they're the fake kind. I don't think I've seen the real deal. I've been asking my gardening friends about it around here and they keep coming up with other names of berries. Can't wait to see your pictures of the berries after they pop open!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen real Bittersweet either so be sure to show us it when it opens! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteI want so bittersweet! You are so lucky, Danni! I wonder if the wacky weather this year has anything to do with how abundant the berries are this year? Some things seem to do better with hot, dry weather? It really stinks about what happened with your pumpkin patch/crop this year, but it looks like nature gave you a little something in return. The bittersweet berries are so beautiful! They make perfect fall decor!

ReplyDeleteI am with the others I have never seen real bittersweet - just the fake kind at Hobby Lobby. Can you dry it and keep it or do the berries fall off? I love the color and I am envious of this harvest.
