This post is not meant to be a reflection on me or my tastes in alcohol. Okay...maybe just a little. Some of you know that I have a job. A few of you know that I work 2 days/week at a liquor store....don't judge. It's not everyday in a small town that a part time job just falls in your lap. The fact that it's owned and staffed entirely by women is pretty cool. The fact that they have an awesome selection of wines and craft beers.....even better. If it's not your thing.....stop reading right now. If you are intrigued.....follow me for a look at some fun seasonal brews/ales and ciders. (The packaging alone is worth the look.) Angry orchid, I llove it. I'm curious is pumpkin pie a dessert or a side dish, because I've seen recipes with marshmallows. My husband would live this, he's into fancy beer.

ReplyDeleteOh my - I havnt seen Redds in about 10 years. i used to love the stuff until after karate training one night we went "carbo loading" and I had one too many and was horribly hung over the next day - Ale gives you the meanest headache EVER! Needless to say that ended my love of Redds. I wouldnt mind trying one now tho! xxx

ReplyDeleteI'm not an ale or beer drinker, but who buys this stuff anyway? Ladies, college kids or the occasional "I wonder how this taste" person. I don't think "real drinkers" would be caught with these. My husband acquired his beer taste while in the military stationed in Germany. He left here slim and came back with a waddle (as in walking). He loves going to Octoberfests and drinking the beers with "gusto". Hope I haven't stepped on any ones' toes, but it is a cute blog!
I don't drink but I love this post because you stepped out and posted against the current of what you thought would be the norm in blogger world. There are times that I actually have something to say and skip it because it think it might offend readers. Now as for the post, like I said I don't drink but the graphics on the products are wonderful and I really enjoy them. Some person actually sat down and created each one of those for the client to set a mood and they did very well.
ReplyDeleteYes, do a wine post next!! I love learning from people who actually know something...unlike myself and just buy based off of what the picture on the bottle looks like or if the name intrigues me. Gonna have to get me some of those hard ciders.

ooooooo...I LOVE pumpkin ale! I am going to try that Angry Orchard stuff this fall; I have seen it in the stores. We can buy wine and beer in our grocery stores here, except on Sunday mornings. I love beer mostly for the 6 pack artwork... the taste is secondary. And nex--a wine review!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was still allowed to drink, I loved Blue Moon, and any Renaissance Festival was a good excuse for hard ciders! I'm really jealous right now of the selection you have at your fingertips...maybe O'Douls will come up with an I Can't Believe It's Not Pumpkin Ale! Kudos to you for getting your libation expert on.

ReplyDeleteI love Apple Cider (the hard kind). I went to school in England for a semester in Grad school, and while I could never get into the taste of beer, I grew to really enjoy Cider.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if any of these are in the stores here now. Would it be wrong to have a fall-themed drink on the beach in August? The bottles and cases are really pretty. I'm sure Chris won't mind finishing the pack off for me once I've tried one!

ReplyDeleteWell, I cannot drink anything alcohol with my meds. (Though after reading this I am tempted to stop for a couple of days to taste test!) Oh, but those graphics. I love the cardboard containers and the bottles. I hope you are saving these for future craft projects. AND do they come in great cardboard boxes!?! You can make great collages with the boxes!!! Please do pretty wine bottles next for those of us who cannot drink.

Thanks for sharing all these flavors with us. I can't wait to try some of them. I use to live in Utah where you can't find beer at the grocery store and going to the liquor store felt criminal. But now I'm back in my home town in Michigan and I can get anything any time day or night at Meijer. Lol. I love being home.
ReplyDeleteI’m with you Danni on Redd’s Apple Ale. It is even best served in a pint glass, with a temperature of 7 degree Celsius. It is a tasty combination of apple and lemon, which gives it a crisp flavor. By the way, it is brewed in Poland by SAB Miller.

I must try the Reeds Apple Ale, that is if I can find it here. Dang Utah! But, I am enjoying the Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale right now. Blue Moon is and will always be one of my favorites. Can't wait to see if I can find some of the others here. I would love to see a WINE post. LOVE WINE! Especially on girls craft nights!

You are so right, the packaging alone, it's like frame-able artwork. Not a big drinker but micro breweries are really the thing these days, more power to them!
