COASTAL LANTERN

I'm still in the mood to do beachy projects with these triple digit temperatures that just won't let up.  Today's project is an easy one and came in under $5 and about 30 minutes!
I picked up this battery operated lantern at Lowe's for $3.50.  I loved that it was just plain white....kind of an empty canvas for a crafter, right?
I folded a piece of beachy blue tissue paper into a band and  fastened it to the base.  Then I just added some jute to the top and bottom and stuck on a starfish that I had painted silver.
Really....how easy was that?  And of course, because everything is fastened on to the band, when I'm tired of it, I can just take the band off and make it over in to something new.  I love the way it just kind of glows, and because it's flameless, I can put it anywhere, inside or out.
Right now it fits right in with the rest of the beachy blue decor I'm enjoying and I think it will stay that way as long as the heat lingers here in the Midwest.
I'll leave you with this picture of my little grandson, who played hard all day and fell asleep with his Spiderman glove on!
I know I'll sleep safe and sound knowing I'm protected by an adorable superhero who's ready for anything!

The lantern is the perfect amount of beachy. I can't believe it was only $3.50 to start. I love the embellishments you added.

  9. Oh, gosh, does he have the most pinchable little cheeks! Has he helped do any project or is he just crime-fighting? The lantern was cute - I can see it used at Halloween and Christmas since you made it adaptable.

Cool lantern! With those colors you could use it for Christmas, too. My Christmas colors are blues, aqua, and silver.
