AUTUMN CENTERPIECE

I was having my in-laws over for dinner last Thursday night and I needed a quick autumn centerpiece that didn't take up too much room on the table.  I already had everything for this.......maybe you do too!

You may remember this little pewter tray from when I used it for THIS project, and that I picked it up at the thrift store for a dollar.  The leaves are clipped from an old garland.  The scatter gems are from last years Thanksgiving table and the candle from my candle cabinet.  In case you didn't know, I'm a candle freak and rarely a day goes by when I don't have a candle or 4 burning...so yes, I have a cabinet that I keep all my candleness in!
You don't need a tutorial on this, but I'm messin with my camera and I wanna do a photo tutorial, so just let me, o.k?
Not too shabby for quick and free.
I tend to favor smaller centerpieces that are attractive, but leave more room on the table for pretty dishes and linens.  Some people love big centerpieces that make a big statement.
What is your preference?

  1. I like the smaller ones too, the big ones block my view and I end up either looking down or over them all night. If I ever make it to America, forget all the high end stuff, I'm dying to rattle around your thrift stores. I rarely find anything in ours.

Centerpiece looks great, Love the pewter!

  3. This is a very sweet idea. I like the colors of the Fall leaves and have some of those, too! Of course Fall candles have the best scents! I like small and large...some of both! Happy holiday weekend!

  4. I have a ridiculously large candle stash, too! A girlfriend was over last night showing me her newly painted candle holder that needed six tapers. Voila! She couldn't believe I could hand that many over without making a dent in the lot. ~ Maureen

  6. I like small centerpieces, too. I like them because I have young kids and it is easier to move them to use the table for other things. Like what you came up with...looks good!

  9. This is a great centerpiece! I love big centerpieces for just looking at all the time, but I like small one's during the meal so you can see each other, instead of peering over or around the centerpiece.

This is a beautiful centerpiece, and it's nice that it was free.

I made a fall garland with those leaves last year! Hahaha!
