Soap Dispenser Makeover

Someone gave me some of that foaming soap from a Bath & Body Shop. It was lemon scented and I L-O-V-E-D it. But, sadly, I used it all up. I had seen several blogs on how to make your own foaming soap by adding 1 TBSP liquid soap, filling it with warm water and giving it a shake. Simple enough! The problem was....and this is just me.... the lemon design on the front didn't match my kitchen and it had been bugging me just a little. My kitchen is green and the yellow didn't look bad, but I figured it could be prettier, so....I gave it a makeover!
This was a super fast project and I can't believe I didn't do it before!
Here's the lowdown:
I traced a pattern on to some plastic vellum-type paper.  Really, anything you can see through to trace will work.  Then, I traced that template on a piece of background paper (you could use fabric) and cut it out.
Using a template that I had, I traced an oval on to a piece of contrasting paper for the center of the dispenser.
With a sponge brush and some Modge-Podge, I applied the larger label to the front of the dispenser to cover up the old label.  (I actually covered the back label too...they were the same size.)
After it dried, I gave the front another coat, put the little oval on in the center and coated the whole label one more time for a little water protection.  And, because I love a little sparkle in my day, I added a button with a tiny gem in the center.

Much better!  Now maybe I should take a look at the one in my bathroom.......

  5. I re-use those foaming bottles till they won't foam anymore. By time I'm finished with them they aren't looking very pretty. This is a great idea and so easy. I'm going to have to go buy some Modge Podge and give it a try.

  8. That's awesome Danni- I never thought about covering it before. I have those decorative ceramic soap dispensers but I like Bath & Body works but I feel like I waste so much soap when I pour it into the ceramic container. I will definitely be doing this now! :)
