MAGNETIC BULLETIN BOARD

I've been working on several projects lately and have been extremely frustrated over this one particularly.  I love the project, but getting a good picture of it has been one of my most frustrating blogging experiences yet.  So much so, that I haven't written a post for days!  Now how crazy is that?  But....I'm moving on.  Here are the best pictures I could get. (I'll take any advice anyone wants to give on how to photograph shiny stuff!)
I even tried different lighting and different backgrounds to no avail.
Anyway, it seemed no matter what I did it the pics turned out blurry.  However, I enjoyed making it and it's super useful to have in my craft room.
I started out with a mirror that I really had no use for anymore, but loved the frame.
After removing the mirror, I stapled in some hardware cloth.  I don't know why they call it hardware cloth because it's wire, but whatever.
Now I had this fun framed wire board to play with:
Decorating it was the fun part.  I knew I wanted a banner, some Post-its, some cool magnets and a place to store some paper clips and a pen, which I'm forever looking for.
I made the little fall banner by punching out some leaves and circles out of paint chips with a craft punch.

I also used some of the leaves and circles, as well as a few Scrabble tiles to make some of the magnets.
A can with some ribbon, a leaf and a magnet attached to the back makes a great place to hold paper clips and pens.
So there you have it, fuzzy pictures and all.  My craft room magnetic memo board.
Now I can get away from these really bad pictures and move on to my next project.....which was far less frustrating...photographically speaking!

  3. That's really cute! Love the idea for the pen and paperclip holder. Your first picture shows it on the left and then it's on the right. I like the banner going from the top corners, too, but both ways are still adorable!

  4. What a clever and useful memo board! That frame is super, and really sets it off.

I'm not an expert, but the experts say natural lighting, in the shade, not full sun, and turn off the flash for taking pics of shiny stuff. I usually use OTT lights, and I still end up using my flash most of the time lol

  5. Get over the photographs, Danni. The board is great. I have prepared some frames for some reason and I think I might have to use your idea. The staples did not damage the frame? I have trouble with that sometimes. Love the Scrabble tile detail!

  9. So adorable! And your pictures are fine (but I know how frustrating it is when you can't get photos that do a project justice).

  10. What a great idea and so clever! Yay you.

Turn your camera flash off and use natural light is the advice that was given to me. See if that works! Thank you for sharing at The "Sunday Stop"

  11. I didn't see any blurriness in the photos. . . I really enjoyed this piece. It seemed easy to make and so practical while still being pretty (my favorite kind of project). Thanks for sharing it.

  12. It looks beautiful, but I totally understand the photography challenge! Some of the best food - casseroles, sandwiches, etc - are the hardest to photograph. They just translate badly. You have such a creative mind! I have that same mirror and never ever in a million years would have thought to do that with it. Thanks for sharing!
