HAUNTED! MY FIRST STENCIL PROJECT

So I've whined more than once that I can't stencil, but I think I may finally be getting the hang of it!
I used a piece of pallet wood to make this little Haunted sign. I got some awesome stenciling tips from my friend Donna at Distressed Donna Down Home, who is a stencil queen!  She helped to overcome my initial stencil fears.
I decided to make a little Halloween scene for my pallet shelf. (You can learn how I made that little shelf HERE.)
Can you guess what these little ghosts are made of?
They are river rocks from the Missouri River in Montana. (Did you know that the headwaters of the Missouri River are in Montana?)  I collected them years ago and much to my husband's chagrin, I have been hauling them around in a very heavy bucket for about 14 years.  When I picked that bigger rock up on that long ago day, I thought it looked like a ghost!  A few small black beads glued on and now it is a ghost!  I thought the little rock was kind of ghosty looking too.
The tree was a twig that I spray painted black.  The skeleton hanging in the tree is from an old piece of cheap Halloween jewelry.  The owl is a part of a set of 3, a thrift store find for $2.
I enjoyed making this little project, and I'm so glad I finally stenciled something!  Thank you for your patience in teaching me Donna!  I promise to try highlighting my letters next time!  I also promise to stop collecting rocks....unless I find a really cool one!

Linking up to any or all of the fine parties listed HERE.

I love it! Sorry, Mr Silo, but your beloved is totally right lugging around a bucket of rocks. who would even dream of throwing away a ghost rock? Seriously? I am shaking my head in disbelief.
Well done, Danni and Donna, together you are unstoppable!
Seriously, this little project really looks awesome, what with all the details and that cutest of ghosts. I will totally frustrate my Man by looking out for suitable rocks- he has not yet suffered enough!

  11. Danni, this is ADORABLE. I love the ghosts are made from rocks you have been carrying around in a pail for 14 years...your arms must be very sore :). The stenciling is perfect and the twig adds that spooky Halloween effect. I love it!

  15. You did good, Danni!!! I've never stenciled before either. A few months ago a purchased a stencil to do an entire wall, but I haven't gotten my nerve up yet. I need to practice on something smaller. You are such an inspiration!

  20. Danni, that is awesome! Your stencil came out great. I love that you hoard rocks - River rocks are the best for painting my kids used to love doing that after they had been on holidays.

  21. A+ with extra credit to my newest student! It has taken this long for me to see the newest post. You did a great job. Love the little vignette with the ghostly rocks. I am sure that Sam has a secret stash of something he has been carrying around. Plus you never know when you might need a river rock!

    Applause, applause.

You know I will set the bar higher for next time - think Christmas stencil!

  24. Danni, this is adorable! I love that you save rocks, I do, too. My first thought when you said your husband was dismayed, was an old episode of "I Love Lucy" (I know, you are too young, but you might see it on a nostalgia show sometime or something). I think it was Lucy and Ricky's honeymoon, but in any case, they were on vacation towing a camping trailer, and Lucy wanted a rock every time they stopped. Some BIG rocks. Ricky told her no, so she was hiding them in the back of the camper. Hilarious!!!
